It is #GivingTuesday and today, most nonprofits are cashing in on their relationship with corporate sponsors.  Facebook announced a matching program in conjunction with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to help givers amplify their donations.  In it’s sixth year, #GivingTuesday is a corporate sponsor’s dream when they tag team with their nonprofit partners for creative and fun activations. It is also a great time to strengthen the relationships you already have with corporate sponsors. Consider these ideas:

  1.  Volunteering. If your nonprofit has an opportunity for the employees’ of your corporate sponsor to get involved, especially on #GivingTuesday, do it!  Most companies have a program where they allow paid time off for volunteering with the employee’s favorite nonprofit. For nonprofit professional associations, you may consider planning a community event that benefits another of your corporate sponsor’s favorite charities.  Also, capitalize on this opportunity to document via social media.  #GivingTuesday encourages the social sharing of great work, especially on this day.
  2. Appreciation Events. Plan and execute a give back to your corporate sponsors on #GivingTuesday.  Use Facebook Live and Instagram stories to document the awesome time.  Be sure to share the successes you’ve had all year.  Consider allowing for small donations by attendees during the event.  (As in $25 or less via the Facebook app if your organization qualifies for the matching program.)
  3. Unselfie Contests. There’s nothing like a little friendly competition among corporate sponsors.  Launch an #unselfie campaign and invite your corporate sponsors to join in on the fun sharing their why for supporting your organization. Allow your board members and volunteers to join in as well.  This is a great way to increase the social profiles of your corporate sponsors while tapping into new donors and new potential corporate sponsors. Their vendors and competition will see their unselfies and begin to strategize how they can join in on the fun next year.
